Jere Underwood has been involved in the banking technology field since 1979 when he accepted a position as Information Systems Manager at a commercial bank in Macon, Georgia. In this position, he was involved in every aspect of information systems management including analysis, development, and implementation of software, policies, and security measures. In 1983 Underwood founded Underwood & Associates, Inc., an information systems consulting company, which among other services, offers IS security planning and disaster recovery services. As president of this company, he continues to help banks with technology-related problems and projects. Over the years, he has worked with many banks in the State of Georgia as well as with a limited number in Alabama, North Carolina, Texas, Tennessee, and Colorado. He is specialized in computer-related security issues and the development of disaster recovery plans and IS policies. He has established and led technology committees in banks and is frequently enlisted to carry out research projects and develop informational reports on a broad range of IS issues. With a background in education, Underwood also accepted a brief teaching assignment at Gordon Junior College in Barnesville, where he taught classes in computer programming. During the past several years, he has performed numerous information systems audits in state-chartered, OCC-chartered, and OTS-chartered banks. He performs all of the information systems audits for which the middle Georgia Certified Public Accounting firm, McNair, McLemore, Middlebrooks & Co. are responsible.
